Man, this is such a nihilistic take. Forget Lord of the Rings. My kids have watched The Wizard of Oz. The Godfather. Planet of the Apes. TONS of classics that are quite a bit older than 30 years, and they’ve enjoyed and appreciated them all.

I was so confused by this at first because my dad got me started on lord of the Rings around that age. By reading the Hobbit to me. Because it’s a children’s book. And it still exists and you can just read it to your kids if you want to.
