Your *failure* to purity test is what got us Trump & his Supreme Court. If you had purity-tested your candidates & got someone in 2016 whose platform was anything other than "not quite as bad as Trump, not quite as quickly as Trump" that candidate might have inspired people to turn out, & thus won.
