Weeks went by, then a month. I'd been leaving VMs for the recruiter but wasn't hearing back from her. She finally reached to say they've been so busy with urgent vacancies they had to fill and apologized and said I'd be hearing from them soon.

When I finally did hear back a week later it was to say, "we've decided to go in a different direction". When I asked why, her response was, "oh you did great in all your interviews, we just decided to hire someone else". I've had a couple similar experiences in the last couple of months.

FWIW job searches can be maddening. You probably only need one job, but odds may be that you get no offers then several. 🤷‍♂️
