Authoritarianism doesn't start at the top; it starts by isolating the most vulnerable. In over 40 years of juvenile justice and youth advocacy, I’ve seen that when systems abandon young people, extremist ideologies step in to fill the void. To fight back, we must protect youth autonomy.
