I read them, but only after I’ve read the main book. If the book can’t hold, no prologue/epilogue can save it. Usually I skip them because they explain the story you’re about to read, thus ruining it. The best prologue? That’s in “Little Big Man” by Thomas Berger An essential part of the story.
