🧵Dew ponds are a distinctive feature of the Yorkshire Wolds, dug in the 18th and 19th centuries to give livestock precious water where springs and streams were few. Shallow, saucer-shaped and clay-lined, they gathered rain and runoff rather than dew, despite their name.
