Yes. The major scenario is that China launches the war of "reunification" and the US and perhaps some other countries try to help Taiwan fend off the invasion. The likelihood of that help was/is always ambiguous. Under Trump I think it's nil. He'd bomb the chip fabs and let it go since he's a punk.
