And in most US suburbs any multifamily construction is literally illegal, so the deck is very much attached.

I think the cost of housing in our relatively few transit accessible / walkable areas shows just how under supplied that housing form is in the us

What bothers me is that expanding zoning options for suburbs has no political advocacy because the YIMBYs mostly hate the suburbs and want them to die, not to be potential outlets for urban housing pressure. I want more housing ev.ry.where, but pro-housing activists see me as a parasite on wheels.

There's a lot of yimbys advocating for things like, apt construction at the old mall / Stroad, ADU and small apt. building (missing middle) legalization

Because a good way to save the suburbs, is to strategically add mixed use density.

But the road block to that is generally suburban NIMBYs

Like the road block to zoning reform in cities is generally urban NIMBYs. Hell, we got plenty in NYC.

True, and Lord knows we have a ton of them. So damn many, and it feels like there’s no voices pushing back.

Things tend to change very slowly. Then all at once.

I don't think I've ever seen a YIMBY against upzoning or improving suburbs.
