I've never understood the urge to bring infants/children/the entire extended family to the grocery. We never did that, it's obnoxious & slows everything down for everyone. One person, in and out. That's all you need. If you cannot find one person in your life to be with your children for an hour...

Tempted to post the "clearly a humiliation fetish" meme, but maybe the hint is In your use of "extended family"? Try imagining that you don't have one, or at least nearby, and it's just you and the kids. There you go.

Mine was 4 hours away - or 14 when we went to grad school- when my kids were little, so it was just us. And to be honest, my husband and I are worse terrors in the stores anyway. We've set off shelves of motion activated stuff. I pressed every button on the Halloween stuff in Lowes on Thursday.

/2 So what I'm guessing is they really dislike anyone in the store that is not just like them. And I get it - sometimes, I just need to get in, get stuff, get out. And it is ADULTS who frustrate me, not kids. Adults like this person who think their time is more important that anyone else's.

I've never seen a kid block off an entire aisle by parking their cart sideways in the goddamn middle and wandering off to look at something 15 feet away, but I've sure encountered lots of adults shopping alone with that complete obliviousness to the existence of others

FACTS. My grandfather was in his early 80s when I went grocery shopping with him and my grandma, and I was just 19, and I never understood why he hated the process so very much. Living in a small county, like they did, and the older I get, I understand more and more every year.
