My parents bought a house in 1974 for way less than I bought mine in 2005 But my parents initially had a mortgage at 16.1% interest. I was one of 4 kids. We never went on vacation. I didn't travel outside of NJ until I was 12 My Dad had a union factory job I don't get the point of these stories
Will StancilI'm not trying to target anyone individually; don't go harass this person. But when people talk about not being able to get ahead, they often cite stuff like this. I just don't think it represents the death of the American Dream; they're prototypical middle-upper class concerns.
