I have never heard of a pouter pigeon before and my day is instantly better after looking up what they look like 😂

My favourite ones are these little guys, Crested Pigeons. Our very own Aussie-native pigeons

There's more to this than most people realize. Pigeons were absolutely domesticated animals, like cats, dogs, horses, and sheep for a vast swaths of human history. When telecommunications went mainstream, they were, with almost insulting haste, abandoned. It's honestly kind of messed up.

Pigeons are so damn funny; I have ‘Runts’, which is a misnomer because the breed is practically as big as a chicken, & they’re all just… so silly. One may even call them dumb sometimes xD

Fun fact: this is why you call pigeons in US cities feral and not wild! Feral is a term used to describe domesticated breedstock that exists outside of captivity. A feral cat was genetically modified through generations of breeding to be docile and personable to humans. A wild cat was not.
