For #YourChoice, my post is a recent unusual encounter between an adult male Northern cardinal and a juvenile summer tanager. It seems the cardinal felt a need to respond to an open begging beak and then suddenly realized this was not a juvie of his own species! #BirdOfTheDay #naturephotography

#birds #cardinal #cowbird #nature Good catch; cool behavior. Several times we've seen Cardinals feeding their adopted Brown-headed Cowbird juveniles. Of course he actually thinks this youngster is his own. ☺️
