I am team Riley on this one. I like that survival games add a layer of stakes to exploration games, which I like but can find boring. The stakes of survival keep me from getting bored. Also for whatever reason my monkey brain really likes survival scenarios.

When I was a kid, it was basically my favorite imagination game. I had 'encampments' all over the woods around my house. My dad was a real estate agent, and when he was showing a house, I'd take whatever stuff I had on me, and could find around, and make a little survival camp.
