The current indie game trend went from bullet heaven spam to friendslops to now just seeing nonstop roguelike incremental idlers pls pls make the next one being a metroidvania trend x3333

Considering the amount of hate I see for metroidvanias regularly, I'd have assumed we were in one for YEARS now

Who tf is hating on the best genre metroidvanias (imo)? I know there some bad ones out there but we've had bangers: Bloodstained, 9S, Bō, Ori 1&2, Timespinner, Hollow Knight. And are still getting more

i honestly thought timespinner sucked it was unbelievably linear for my taste at least idk and the story with the reveal in the end was as cliche as it gets

Thats fair. I liked the gameplay more than I did the story but I mainly play it randomized and its a whole different (to me: better) experience

The only Indie Metroidvanias I've played were Hollow Knight and Guacamelee's duology. Loved all three games, but right now I am not looking another Metroidvania for now.

I forgot about Guacamelee! And this reminded me I need to try La-Maluna 2 But yeah I think after Skong, we can ride out the rest of the rougelite genre until the next genre comes around (looks like its fighting)

Guacamelee is fantastic Monster boy and the cursed kingdom is great Madragora n the witch tree is gooood minishoot adventures i think counts as a metroidvania too lol
