I can’t force myself to watch the video, but Haiti has problems because after the Haitians freed themselves from slavery, they had to pay ruinous reparations to their former “owners.”

And on top of everything else that may be afficting their nation of origin--political corruption, incompetent governments, massive civil unrest, guerilla warfare, widespread gang violence, religious persecution, etc.--they've often also suffered major environmental crises, as well.
