That's kind of yucky from a publisher, but I do feel a desire for less "dystopian/gritty" stuff. I'm living through that (although it could always get worse). I want uplifting things, like fascists getting their clocks absolutely cleaned by decent people

As a Cold War Kid I read Brave New World, Animal Farm, 1984, Fahrenheit 451, On The Beach and they prepared me for then and to recognize now I also read LoTR, Alive, Go Ask Alice, Watership Down, Flowers in the Attic That shit was dark 🥹 Thank goodness for Star Trek 💫

To be honest: I freaking hated those kinds of books. Like just write an essay about what you want to say instead of dragging it out into book to bludgeon people over the head with. Star Trek sometimes veered into having A Very Important Message, but it had fun stuff too like tribbles

Agreed, sometimes you want something thoughtful and at other times just joy We had Get Smart, Hogan’s Heroes and Dick Van Dyke but also mind blowing stuff like The Prisoner ⚪️ and freaky H.R. Pufnstuf The dark stuff can make our reality look a bit better by comparison
