My 'pragmatic' approach is to see existing licences run their course, but nothing new and to see things end as quickly as possible. I believe this was both the spirit and the letter of the Labour manifesto promise in 2024. Anything else is wrong.

Labour were handed an easy win when the courts overruled a Tory decision on two licences, meaning the decision needed making again. It would be wrong to reapprove these and wrong to allow anything beyond them. 2/2

This will be a real test of the new ESNZ secretary, Miatta Fahnbulleh. I know her personal views would mean no more drilling approved. But does she have the political will to stand up for it and block this? If she does, it shows she has a very strong future in politics.
