i forgot if it was mentioned if the holy knights’ “tattoos” are actually tattoos or if they’ve been exclusively referred to as marks so far. because if they were actually brands, it’d make more sense that shanks got his entire arm taken off rather than modify the tattoo

also lines up better with how cultish imu’s group would be, a brand is permanent and can only be added to, vs tattoos that can be covered up or removed.

also!! a brand wound could make more sense for how shanks was self harming by aggravating it in times of distress. it’s already damaged skin, so shanks hurting it repeatedly kinda lines up with how he winced when he grabbed his arm in that one scene
