Even being purely results oriented and ignoring morality it's a dumb decision from Dems and Dem strategists. It kills a lot of enthusiasm and votes in exchange for nothing. Nobody who has as an important part of their voting calculus that the candidate is anti-trans is ever voting for a Democrat.
