Perhaps not nihilistic but just dumb. As a kid in the 2000’s I went on a binge all on my own watching Jimmy Stewart classics, Alfred Hitchcock, etc. It’s like saying kids will never appreciate Van Gogh because of AI art. And LOTR is just a dumb example- there’s nothing about it that doesn’t hold up
