Interrupting someone's chemo is a low and despicable act. You've readied yourself to endure, arranged insurance or payment, taken meds to prep, have a couple meals prepped or a friend ready, they may be spending the night, have post chemo anti-nausea meds in the house, and now you may die quicker.

I have loved her since I first heard her background vocal on Neil Young's Heart Of Gold. I didn't know who she was. I just knew I loved her voice. Other guys my age fawned over Stevie Nicks. I had no interest. Linda Ronstadt was my archetype. She's the one.

I was a kid in the 70s and I couldn't make my voice do what hers did. I had better luck copying Karen Carpenter, who didn't use her high end much. I didn't have any power in my voice until my 20s. Then I understood how opera singers say you hit your stride in your 30s.

Not Brenda Vaccaro husky, but deeper than most women. My mom's voice was deeper than mine, and dad was a baritone, so it's definitely genetic. Do any of your family sing?

May I ask, what ethnicity are you. Often it can be reflected in your singing voice. I'm White Australian, Welsh/Jewish/Irish background. Nothing very interesting or exotic.... My sister, Shula, she sang professionally with Venetta Fields & others. She's REALLY good.

My ethnic background is northern euro and Scandinavian. Dad was Lithuanian on his mom's side. His dad was something in the Polish/Czech/Ukrainian area. Guessing because 1) his family didn't record anything and 2) that part of E Europe kept changing hands.

Mom's dad was full German. Her mom was Finnish, Swedish, Russian, Norwegian, and German. Mom's brother was a professional musician (slide guitar) and dad made $ as a teen playing accordion. My mother worked part time for his teacher's music store.

My Dad sang too. I never had the chutzpah to get on stage. I did a lot of session work - ads etc. I mainly sang on the verandah at home when we'd all get together & jam til sunrise. Since Mum died, though, it just doesn't happen anymore. I sing to my cats lol....

My dancing is appalling unfortunately. I was a really good little gymnast as a kid, I could do every flip that existed. But I couldn't compete because I simply couldn't do the dance steps. Totally unco, lol.

Birthday wishes for Linda Ronstadt are an excellent use of social media! If you haven’t already done so, watch The Sound of my Voice, a documentary of her life. Also, stream the 3rd episode of the first season of The Last of Us. Which is up there with the best episodes of any series in TV history.
