100%. I’m the only one in ny family unit who still masks, and then quite rarely, but I instantly feel warmth and fellow feeling for anyone wearing a mask in public because they’re still My People who Care About Others, and this is just as much a trauma response as snarling at them instead.
babs ✨as someone who still masks in, at the very least, public indoor spaces, i can absolutely confirm this is the truth; there's nothin like seeing a reminder of That Time™️ (my mask) to make trauma bubble up into someones behavior. it looks different for everyone—from kindness to cruelty—but it's there.
