Though honestly I'm feeling better about this than in ages. Forcing a vote and then not getting the majority looks really bad for them and will be a point to emphasize. The politicians supporting it are less popular than two years ago, and giving our data to the Americans looks real bad right now.

This is indeed democratic backsliding. Well, I wasn't thinking this was going to be easy. Having to resort to such blatant bullshit should work against them in time. (And it seems like discussing this on Twitter got me silenced. Bad days. Granted, I'm somewhat monotonous in the way I do it.)
