Unpopular opinion: The Trojans had it coming. Paris kidnapped Queen Helen! By the standards of warfare, the Trojan War was one of the more justified conflicts. As opposed to all the towns Odysseus and his men sack along the way just for the hell of it.

The Trojan War was collective defense by the Greeks. All the Greek lords agreed that they'd fight to get Helen back if anyone kidnapped her.

It was like NATO. A defensive alliance. Because Helen was the most beautiful woman in the world her father made all her suitors promise to defend whoever got picked. I don't know why I remember all of this. But I did read Edith Hamilton many times in high school.

The norms of Bronze Age warfare were awful. But Nolan tries to make the Trojan War out to be some kind of unjust imperialist adventure, but the Greeks were the wronged parties, here.

Homer was blind. The historically accurate version would have a blank screen.

We don't even know if Homer was a real person

My comment is not a criticism of Homer's fidelity to the events of the Trojan War, nor Nolan's fidelity to Homer.
