65,765 people were in ICE detention as of July 11, in ICE's first data since April. Arrests hit a record 1,474 a day, and the largest group in custody has no criminal history at all. Full edition: austinkocher.substack.com/p/this-week-...

Gulags

The Democrats aren't amplifying this nearly enough. It's a simple message: "Trump Lied." Said he'd deport the worst of the worst but mostly it's ppl wo any criminal charges, let alone conviction. Ppl who've been a poz presence in community for yrs. Even our worst criminals get credit for 'good time'

And now, ppl who "came the right way" eg under one program or another are having that legal status categorically revoked and turned into illegal immigrants overnight. They're certainly not "worst of the worst" either! "Trump Lied" over & over til everyone gets it.

Seems like the "worst of the worst" really referred to ICE.

Human bodies are now a commodity. Probably on the stock exchange also. You are worth something to somebody.

Where are the children? Did they count them as well or recategorize them as really short people.

At a low of $150.00 per day per detainee(some kept for months)that's $9,864,750 of OUR tax money. Each day. Every day. What kind of infrastructure, educational programs, health benefits, paid leave, climate initiatives, disaster mitigation etc would that provide? The GOP has done ZERO for We the People.

Trying to rationalize a clear humanitarian crisis around tax dollars per inmate seems typically white! Thanks for this!

Interesting take. I felt that, too, as I wrote it & almost didn't post it. If I weren't a very active citizen, doing all I can to counter the current ICE & regime abuses, I might have. I am also a realist & know that many people only "get on board" when it impacts their finances. Hence: The Post.

Absolutely sickening.
