I never played many video games, but this game changed what I thought a video game could be. I had thought they were mindless, titillating violence. Bastion taught me that video games could tell a story in a way no other medium could, and that has shaped my taste in them ever since.

And it's been my favourite game ever since

On a pretty short list of games I finished everything in, and even shorter list of games I bothered playing in NG+ mode. Fantastic experience.

I've never seen a studio with such a vivid, always changing but always recognizable art style, backed by the best way to do difficulty, and really fun mash-ups of mechanics. I've used the Messenger Imp as my avatar on Discord and other servers for years. First time I saw him I laughed hysterically.

Will probably always be THE narrator voice I judge all other third person narrators against.

Carrying Zulf out of there is still one of my favorite moments in video games.

Bastion had me hooked right from the get-go, the constant narration style, the way the world came together as you perceived & interacted with it. By the end of the game, I knew I had found one of my favorite dev teams. Then you released Transistor. Hades. Hades II. I can't wait to see what's next!

Every release has always had me wondering "how can they top this?" And every subsequent release has always shown me how. Bastion was a banger, and every game you have released since then has just been raising the bar!

Bastion was one of the first games I remember playing that left an impression on me as a kid. The game's world was so mesmerizing to me, and despite not fully understanding the story, I loved it. The microwave tunnel section (vague for spoilers) in particular is something I still think about today.

To this day, every time I’m on a plane heading home and it starts taking off, I’ll shut my eyes and fire up the end credits on a lossless loop and listen to a couple spins.

There are three things I'll always miss though...

I played Bastion way back when it released and have purchased it three times total - twice on Steam, once on PS4. It is a real masterpiece of story even compared to modern games. Dare I call it, a proper story.

I never finished it (can't recall why, or how far I got), but I really liked the dynamic voiceover sort of made it feel like a more interactive visual novel. That was cool.

This is the game that made me want to be a game dev, an all timer

I remember when this came out in the Xbox Arcade Summer event and I loved it so much. Immediately bought the soundtrack as soon as I could and replayed it right after finishing to get the other ending. One of the few games I actively got all the achievements. Made me a Supergiant fan for life.

I've been a fan ever since. Bastion still holds a dear place in my heart (especially the OST) 🤍

I used to play the music sheets you provided at your site. My mom loves Bastion songs until this day.

I remember being dragged by my parents to a party with nobody I knew, hiding in the guest bedroom, and playing this game on my school tablet for the first time. Cleared the whole thing in one sitting, and then 14 year old me started SOBBING at the ending.

This game was an absolute masterpiece. I think that the way you integrated Ruck's narration into the gameplay was what I loved most, it was so atmospheric.

Spike in a Rail is still, after all this time, still one of my favorite OST tracks of all time. I put it on when I absolutely have to lock in. It has this forward momentum to it that just never fades.

Setting Sail, Coming Home still hits me like few other video game songs do.

I think this may have been the only game I ever bought on my iPad back in the day, well worth it. I’d like to give it a go again. Of course I’m now a massive fan of Hades and Hades 2. People respond to quality over quantity and I think these games have that balance!
