I used to do some work on the ethical use of satellite and drone imagery for aid and disaster response, and it is genuinely hard to express in words what a dangerous, stupid thing Google is doing by making it easy to use GenAI to create faked satellite imagery:

they only do what the examples of oil and tobacco industries proved to work in favour of their profits - undermining information ecosystem. It's not stupid - it's evil.

Have to wonder how much print shops have invested in Google because we’re all going to return to map books for local and Atlases for broader use (I’m so old, I still use both… and have an encyclopedia set on my shelves!).
