There are a lot of native perennials that you can put seeds down for in the fall, and then if they grow, they'll just be there and need less maintenance. Most of what you named are exotic species-- a PITA. I always notice Halifax has an overwhelming balance of non-native flowers. Like, SO MUCH.

This is all the stuff that's in the garden we inherited when we moved here. I would personally love to just toss a bunch of wildflower seeds down and see what happens, but even to do that we first need to try to get at the endlessness of the goutweed that is.... everywhere (4 beds to go...)

We also have ivy stretching its way over from the neighbours and a sad peony.

BOO goutweed. Our neighbours on 3 sides have grape vine that invade everything, so we planted mints and raspberry to fight back.
