While I respect what he is saying, my concern is we are setting a precedent for more nefarious behavior. We have a right to know what is going on, and Mitch is not a member of the royal family, he is A PUBLIC SERVANT! (At least he SHOULD be)!!!

He won't tell you... but what @govandybeshear.bsky.social SHOULD do is to stop trying to placate conservatives and do what they'd definitely do if this were a Dem seat. Replace Mitch... then suddenly watch the GOP allow him to talk face to face with Mitch.

I think he will do that after Aug 3...

🎯 The KY Constitution gives @govandybeshear.bsky.social the power to appt a replacement for McConnell's seat until the midterms.

Beshear can also appoint a new Senator the day *after* the midterms. That seems be what he's thinking. Dead McConnell will still be dead.

And then what happens in January when the seat is vacant? If he gets to appoint for 6 years (which I suspect isn't the case), then ok.

Kentucky law prohibits gubernatorial appointments to the US Senate. Vacancies can only be filled by special election or general election

And the GOP are so about following laws all the time and not squirming away to make it so the governor can't do that with a veto proof majority. Got it.

I think the question is "what will he do?" as it almost seems like he's doing the "Dems are passive" schtick that GOP always take advantage of.
