Are they really usually aggressive then? I keep hearing about it but they don't seem to be around here. The odd hiss but you can walk right through the middle of the pack with no problems.

It really depends on how much they view humans as a threat to their nests & young. It seems that Humber River Valley has a lot of visitor traffic, families, dogs, etc. It seems people have respect for the wildlife around there. Lots of turtle nests, ducks, and even a crane!
