I have been periodically standing on platforms that promise to take me to Shady Grove for at least 40 years and I still have no idea where or what Shady Grove is

Foggy Bottom (you’re in DC?) sounds interesting enough

Has anyone been to Shady Grove? I mean not “have any of you guys been to Shady Grove” but “has anyone at all ever been to Shady Grove”

We are always ascending, ascending, ascending towards Shady Grove but never arriving, one cannot reach Shady Grove, one can only strive for it

There’s a CarMax next to the Shady Grove station. I sold my car there and rode the metro home.

To reach Shady Grove, like Shangri-La, your best hope is to be on a hijacked plane in Northern India, piloted by a sinister Mongolian-looking pilot, and heading over the mountains into the night.

That was me throughout the 80s when my grandparents lived in "Tenleytown" but I did not know the enigma remained

I have not, though when I lived in the area I often went toward it. I’m not convinced it’s real.

Slim Shady Grover Cleveland Park, how long can we keep this going

Nope, 13 years in DC and never. (Was disappointed to discover Crystal City is not made of crystal, though.)

Crystal City always reminded me of East Berlin. (Not the cool parts. More like Alexanderplatz.)

Sadly, nothing cool about it. (My inlaws lived there for awhile; for a few years we lived up the hill from it.)

Yes! My now-wife when we started dating lived in apartments by Shady Grove. It’s… fine. It’s suburban Montgomery County.

You win!
