Just got the list of street closures for the next Batman movie filming here. I used to get excited about the location filming for big movies here - local kids had a lovely time during the Indiana Jones and Spiderman and Batman films watching genuinely impressive staging and meeting stars.

Then i learned via Kill James Bond's Abigail Thorn that the reason we're popular with Hollywood production is that filming here gets the bosses special visas allowing crew to use the NHS, so its just a scrimp on health insurance at our expense.

Yeah, I think the council undercuts other cities for licensing etc too.

Ah so its cash grabs all the way down. She explained that its tanked various economies in the USA like Georgia, pretty much overnight being able to forgo health insurance for big stunt movies. Lets hope Pattinson doesn't fall off his bike in the necropolis like we saw him do last time!

Aye, it’s generally how it goes tbh. 25 years ago loads of stuff was shot around Melbourne because of tax breaks and cheap land. WB had a huge lot out there where they filmed a lot of the Matrix movies.

ngl the Spiderman crew were lovely around work, genuine delight and Tom Holland was tireless with making loads of little kids happy doing spidey stuff during his breaks. Just feels bitter knowing the hate on immigrants coming here to work, who then have to pay for healthcare.

You know when you see Spiderman swinging from building to building? There is a guy up a huge The Moog type rig actually on a cable swinging on a moving flatbed truck. Was impressive to watch, i just assumed it was all cgi.
