i suppose it's a minor point, but in a race with 14 candidates where you get to vote for 7 and the top 7 people win, and there are two slates of aligned candidates and the slates have names, this seems like a particularly unhelpful way to present the results

This was my thought exactly. Maybe some people are rooting for individuals but imho I couldn't care less.

If I recall correctly from my ballot that I dropped off a few weeks ago (love the dropboxes, BOE!), the two slates were grouped on the ballot and are still grouped in showing the results (so the slate that was the current DC Dems members is listed first, with the Free DC slate folks listed second).

That is true -- the top 7 in each column are "Dems United" and the bottom 7 are "Free DC". But for the ward-level races, sometimes Free DC is on top and sometimes Dems United is on top.
