Coward. Do The Mahābhārata. All 100,000 verses.

It is simply apparently too much to ask of _any_ Arthurian adaptation in any format in the 21st century NOT to ask....what if Arthur and his Knights were all Bad, Actually?

or, to counter the one book I know someone is gonna reply to and say "what about," I will say if your book is a sequel to Mallory, you can either be a sequel to Mallory OR Llogres can be a rural backwater but you cannot have it both ways

I dunno where the extra L came from but I'm rolling If you are a sequel to Mallory then Logres is the heart of an Empire spanning not just Britain but also Scandinavia and most of the rest of Europe. Arthur is the Emperor of Rome.

And sure that empire crumbling after his death would make lots of sense But then to have a character whose pov is "god, THIS is the king everyone talked about? this nation sucks and is full of barbarians" might be fun and satisfying, but you're no longer following Mallory

I feel like audiences would go for this, too. You could make it warm and cozy alongside all the suspense. It would work. Maybe use humor, if that's even allowed in our grimdark times?

I dunno about cozy, but I'm tired of fantasy NEEDING to be grim and dark and edgy without being cozy, I guess. It's okay for it to be about people striving to be their best selves, even if they fail.

I meant cozy not so much as a mission statement but as "there's fire in the hearth and there's Ye Olde Historically Inaccurate England and there's Camelot being struck by the first rays of a beautiful day."

They should stop dicking around and make a Beowulf adaptation that doesn't suck.

I mean, I love the 13th Warrior but is not a straight adaptation so I'm here for one

I thought the Stellan Skarsgard and Gerard Butler Beowulf was a reasonable attempt. Certainly far better than the weird CGI one with the Austin Powers fight sequence.

I hated Green Knight on first watch. Hated hated it. And now I love it. It was very atmospheric

Oh I barely made it through watching it once, I hated it so very much I am absolutely not giving it a second watch.

My sibling said the same thing. She’s kind of lost trust in all of my movie tastes since I’ve changed course on it. We both HATED it in the theater.
