I take your point in the abstract, Bill, but I have to say, I don't remember very much from you on fringe RW ideas. You have spoken well on RW ideas after they have come closer to the mainstream, no question, but not, that I can remember, on anything that would be equivalent to 1/2

It’s not my fault conservatives move their fringe ideas into the mainstream faster than progressives. But even this DSA idea is an extension of other anti-checks-balances ideas from the left which I have long criticized (court packing, nuclear option).

Weird that you mention two ideas that are in no way precluded by the US Constitution—which sets forth the checks and balances in our government—or *any* law to whinge about less than 100 days before an election while Trump, his SCOTUS, and congressional GOP use the USC to wipe their overfed asses.

They are topics that have been under discussion for decades. And, not to put too fine a point on it, are also not in the Constitution.

Same-sex marriage's most prominent advocate was Andrew Sullivan, who was no leftist, and who promoted it as a conservative alternative to perceived gay libertinism.
