The consistency of the wind around Wellington means that it is currently the best placed city in the world to benefit from wind power. We really should be making more use of that fact.

the tidal flow in Cook Strait could generate power too. It's not as established as solar and wind. When people start talking about offshore wind, then we should also consider tidal generators.
