Kaiju - Monstrous Non-Binary ⚧️🦖

Our year of kaiju films has reached one of the greatest tonight, Gamera: Guardian of the Universe (1995), and @lluisabadias.bsky.social & I can't stop making atoll jokes 🏝️ This was the film that brought Lluis & I together to make games years ago. And re-watching it with him is always special 💜🐢💜

I love everything about the Gamera films, especially in the Heisei era. They were my first, and gave me my love of the genre While I will always champion for kaiju films in general, my heart belongs to the giant turtle who has kept me safe all these years We all love you Gamera!

Fun fact I learned about Gamera: Guardian of the Universe -this was the first film to have a woman suit actor in a kaiju film. Yumi Kameyama She originally wanted to be in the Gamera suit, because her family name had the character for turtle (亀), but she ended up kicking turtle butt as Gyaos
