the only thing this actually shows is that capitalism goes to great expense and great lengths to hide every single data point about goods and services from consumers, and we're still in a state where USUALLY "price at purchase" is the only thing that can't be hidden, though they attack that too

I think my most genuinely unpopular take is that a widely held and genuine consumer preference for cheaper, lower-quality goods, not private equity, is driving the decline in quality of consumer goods like clothing and housewares.
