This is a point also made by Kelebe Tewolde, one of our local progressive candidates, about the intrinsic problems with enforcement-based traffic controls. He's very supportive of traffic calming and other safe-by-design measures, but against automated speed or bus lane enforcement.

The reality is that police tasked with enforcement for the purpose of pedestrian/cyclist safety are ideologically opposed to that goal and, in cities with liberal elected governments, they are outside civilian control for all practical purposes. (2/2)
