How about we settle on “they were both wrong” but only bc the necessity of the movie required EPA jackass guy to be incompetent. Personally if a bunch of techbros went and built unsafe nuclear reactors, I think we’d want the EPA to shut it down.

it’s a nuclear reactor! you’re supposed to be able to hit the shutdown button, it’s not like they were running it at 20% and poisoning it!

Bold to assume they've built in the kind of immediate-SCRAM system into a jury-rigged nuclear reactor much smaller than most facilities, though I'd at least want to ask them to walk me through how they built it before anything, but then again if I was the EPA I'd also just call *the NRC* in instead
