i really need to read original dark sun zedeck, i am so curious

They are not particularly great reads, but the ingredients of the setting are really evocative. The first adventure published for Dark Sun was about leading a slave rebellion, IIRC? Would've been cool to see an iteration of the setting by somebody who can handle such themes well ...

That is correct. The issue with Dark Sun is the game books were made in conjunction with novels (like Dragon Lance) so you couldn't really be the hero of the story (again like Dragon Lance). But the novels weren't very good (unlike Dragon Lance).

Tbh it's Scraphammer 40k I would prioritize, but Planescape is also an extremely good call

Ironically, I think Dark Sun may be the campaign setting with a single axis law-chaos alignment makes the most sense.
