OK, some very different starter suggestions. William Carlton's THE TITHE-PROCTOR (set in Ireland); F. W. Paget's ST. ANTHOLIN'S (fundraising problems for a church); Edward Thompson's THE RECTOR OF AUBURN (has a chapter on tithes--it's more an exposition of Anglicanism than a novel).
