The PopuList is maintained by a team of comparativists and a network of country experts, and offers transparent classifications of parties across Europe. The new version extends the data until 1 May 2026 and includes new parties, revised classifications, new visualizations and a redesigned website.

Linking The PopuList to national election results shows that almost 1 in 4 Europeans now vote for a far-right party, while around 1 in 3 support an anti-establishment party. Support for far-left parties is at its lowest level since 1989: only around 1% now vote for a far-left party.

Support for far-right parties has increased sharply over the past two decades: from about 7% in 2006 to 11% in 2016 to 23% today. This increase has been driven largely by rising support in countries such as Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Austria, Portugal and Romania.

Although the far right has experienced setbacks in countries such as Poland and Hungary, these parties continue to perform strongly across Europe. They now even lead the polls in countries like Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Belgium and Austria.

There is currently little evidence that far-right parties have reached an electoral ceiling. If current trends continue, they are likely to grow even further in the years ahead.

I wish politicians take note. They shouldn't copy the anti-migrant rhetoric but rather think about the wrong policies they have implemented, to understand what ails society.
