Maybe someone will say yeah you gotta primary the hell out of the incumbents who won't do it, but you're not gonna hear that from a current or former state party chair, usually. Also not a lot on media reform, which is somewhere between comms and organizing in my mind.

Again, if there's anybody I'd like to say I was wrong to be pessimistic to, it's Wikler. People joke about "vote harder" but WisDems actually voted harder and broke a very strong right wing powergrab over many cycles.

IMO that kind of regular electoralism has to be combined with militant unionism and pushing the liberal party to something like a democratic membership base with easy means of participation for working people and people raising kids, to say nothing of funding to fix the media ecosystem.

Was thinking about this a bit more and there’s some really basic survivorship bias in that natural optimists will tend to stick with this work more and that’s deeply psychological. I’m more middling on whatever psych scale that is and good organizers especially tend to be aware of where folks are at

The audiobook in particular reminded me of so many conversations with peers whose internal drive to fight and occasionally run into brick walls is grounded in a belief that it’ll work out and that they will live to see it work out.
