Had a great 6th session last night with the crew. The party has left the starting area of Erybend where they discovered a cult working to resurrect chromatic dragons and felled a dragon wyrmling. They are on the way to the free city of Greyhawk and I couldnt be more excited. #ttrpg #dnd

Also I spent a lot of time worrying that the players weren't interested in role play, but I created an NPC, a roadwarden (shout out @moralanxiety.bsky.social) that met them and they engaged right away and I felt that beautiful immersion feeling the rest of the session.

I spent like 3 hours yesterday (while watching my Patriots lose a great football game) creating a dungeon flavored to mimic the movie Die Hard and the session didn't even get close to learning about it, we went on a freewheeling trip fighting monsters in the grasslands south of Greyhawk.

I love the spontaneous nature of tabletop, but I need to get better at creating stat blocks/encounters on the fly. I struggle with creating encounters that I feel will engage and challenge the players. I do alright but a lot of what I'm doing now feels too much like guessing. I need process.
