Test them out at home! It’ll let you know how best they work for you. I have a squishy set for ‘most sounds’, and a different set for concerts/mall shopping/etc where I can still hear decent and it doesn’t make it muffled but blocks super loud stuff. Those are the ones I take to the movies.
