I will say that it does not work as well as Google for some things (esp the 'News' tab) but I'll take having to refine searches manually over being spoon-fed whatever AI slop Google decides is relevant
honestly, a former Google user since it's inception, I've found DDG to be a more than adequate replacement (esp now). it's sometimes more difficult ti find an image i'm looking for if it's a hyper-specific meme, but thats the only downside i've had.
i thought so too but then i just started crafting my searches better. with DDG you have to go back to thinking about keywords more than conversational, so like caveman speak tends to do better. about to try Kagi, i hear that's amazing. ill totally pay $50/yr for quality, ad-less search
Yeah, part of it is also re-learning web 1.0 habits about search engines not being for everything. Like a lot of the time for basic queries what I actually want is going to be answered via the Wikipedia page, so it makes more sense to just search that in the first place
