I only saw the Peter Jackson "Lord of the Rings" trilogy for the first time a few months ago. I'm sure I'm in the tiniest of tiny minorities on this, but one of my takeaways was that perhaps a bit less rigid interpretation of the source material could have made for better film adaptations.
