I think programming concepts are better explained with cute cartoon bugs sharing cookies, how about you

🍪🍪 🐛🐛🐛 we always share evenly

Definitely! I took the space shooter concept and reimagined it as a pen-plotter apparatus!

After the first video I got a CubeXX. There's something so nice about running what you make on hardware!

Very cool! Love that you ran with it and made it your own

Thank you! I plan to keep doing this as you post videos! I'm trying to practice: - less overthinking, more experimenting - creative vision. I want to think more about what I want to see on the screen and less fussing over the technical details (as I can do the latter indefinitely 😅)

- studying existing ideas and twisting them to make something new.

I have the same problem! It's part of why I like pico-8, the limits encourage keeping it simple and fun

I think this is a good way of showing it, but a bad example (no offence) If you have two operations with the same answer (6/3 & 5%3), it can create an assumption in those learning that they are doing the same thing even if you explain the difference A better example is 7/3 = 2.333 9/3 = 3 7%3 = 1

yeaahhh!!! time for shiny stuff! animation! excitement!

I love this. Been making a game in the slightly "more" picotron. It's been a lot of fun. I'm going to watch the series with my son, as he wants to make games as well and I'm terrible at explaining things. I love your keyboard! Any chance you could share what it is?

Picotron is amazing! And that's so cool you can share this stuff with your son. My keyboard is a NuPhy Air 60 with the "moss" low profile switches. It cost significantly more than I should have spent on a keyboard but I do like it a lot 😅

Video #2 in my series about how to program games in Pico-8 for total beginners is up! We talk about tables, random numbers, for loops, the modulo operator, and other stuff that leads to ultimately making a scrolling star field with a spaceship that shoots bullets. www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1E5...

In case you missed part 1: bsky.app/profile/mixo...

I'm kicking off a series of videos for absolute beginners who want to learn programming games. Pico-8 is a fantastic engine for devs who have been at it for 10 years or 10 seconds, so join me and let's make some fun stuff! www.youtube.com/watch?v=mH9-...

Great video again Dave. Do you have a goal in mind for this series, like a capstone project?

Ответ для bbsamurai

Thanks! My overall goal is to set up a good foundation for making basically any kind of project, and I'll mostly be working through a series of smallish projects that contain more advanced techniques. I would like to do something fairly complete and polished later on, but haven't decided on it yet

Thank you for all you do for the community. OT: I absolutely LOVE that keyboard!

Thanks! It's a NuPhy Air60 with moss switches (not sponsored hehe)
