yo PDX heads: the barry walker unit, heavenly pedal steel inversion of @rosecityband.bsky.social, is playing next weekend, now with akron/family drummer dana janssen. somebody please tape!

Their song "High in the Hummocks - Live Version" sounds so familiar to another tune, or the other tune sounds so familiar to this tune. But I can't put my mind to remember the tune. The bass line. Anyone else experience this?

I’ll most likely be there and tape. Barry is super taper friendly, and I think the BWU is spectacularly good.

i didn't realize it was the name of a venue until i saw the flyer for this gig & previously assumed it was the vibe they were channeling for this music. which i think is probably also correct?

Yeah I used to live 4 blocks from there but that was long before they opened. I know the building, it's a good spot; and it seems like everyone likes this new bar/venue

they stopped touring around 2013, and really horribly miles seaton died in a car accident in 2021. otherwise i assume they would've gotten back together eventually. seth + dana still play together sometimes.

well that's terrible news and explains the lacuna of their re emergence the tour when that first album dropped was a mind bender dudes brought scissors on tour

I am not sure if it just hits the exact right spot in my brain, but I think they are really great. Surprised they aren’t much, much more popular.
